Barbara attended DPS kindergarten through East High School. She furthered her education with a Bachelor of Arts degree at Denver University and a Master of Arts degree at University of Colorado, Boulder. Barbara was a teacher and administrator for DPS for 34 years.
She also volunteered 5 days a week for the 9 News Health Fair, charity bingo halls for both the Arvada Elks and the American Legion Post 161. “Bobbie” was still a volunteer for the Elks at age 95. She is survived by her sister Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Chastain and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Barbara will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cem, 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, followed by a reception from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
