Barbara June Mitchell was born in Peoria, Illinois. At six years old, she ventured forth to Hollywood to be the star dancer/singer in a big-production musical film, but she wound up in adult life doing work she loved more. Teaching elementary school, working for the needy, helping wildlife, volunteering and brilliant federal government grant-writing/social occasion management became her life's callings. In her early teens, Barb moved to Denver, where she became a Phi Beta Kappa in association with the University of Denver.
Her greatest loves of all were her dogs: Vicky, Ruffy, Brutus and Teddy, who is present today.
Barbara's human loved ones who survive her are son Mark, daughter-in-law Marcene, grandchildren Yvonne, David and Junior and their families, including great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Judy, Debbie and Shelley.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Hope and Joe, and her beloved "fellow" mother-in-law Mavis Herbert.
Barbara left the world a better place for her leadership and love.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
