Ben worked for me at SEC/Smith Engineering not so long ago. He was a fine man and had much potential as an engineer. It is so sad that he is gone. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

On the loss of your son, Ben Dodt, Civil Engineer Mizzou Class of 2006

Dear Bruce, Esther, Gwendolyn and Kate,

It was with great shock and heavy hearts that we learned of the death of Ben. As you are well aware, Ben graduated with his BS degree in Civil Engineering from Mizzou in May 2006. As a faculty, we are very proud of our graduates and feel as if they are a part of our Mizzou Civil Engineering family. Our loss can in no way be compared with yours but please know that the tragic loss of Ben is felt throughout the faculty in the Department and among his classmates as this sad news travels.

As your hearts are surely suffering and your minds griped in great doubt, “May God show you his kindness and mercy and give you great peace of heart and mind.” – 1st Timothy 1:2. Our prayer for you and especially Kate, is for you to be wrapped in all of the comfort that can possibly be found at this time.

With our deepest condolences,

John J. Bowders, PhD, PE

To all of you.
Since Saturday when Pete called to tell me the news of the accident, my heart has been heavy. Ben was so much a part of Pete's (and ours)lives. I have always admired his adventurous fun loving spirit. Those times in Colorado with Pete were times he loved. Please know you all will be in my thought and prayers, this weekend and in the months and years to come. Nothing has affected my son more than Ben's death. Thank you for sharing him with us. Sincerely and in love. Lisa Kindstrom
