Billy (Bill) Brown, aged 93, passed on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Prestige Care Center in Morrison, Colorado. Bill had been under the loving care of Lutheran Collier Hospice for a few months after previously receiving VA Palliative care. He joins his wife Corrine, who was his constant companion for 40 years. They met late in life-meeting in their forties when life blessed them each with a life partner. He was lost & lonely after her passing and looked forward to the day when he could finally join her.
His love of new cars, motorcycles, & camping trailers- as well as traveling- was overshadowed by his love and talent for making beautiful hand crafted furniture & gorgeous stained glass creations. He loved to gift friends and family with his beautiful bath cabinets, clocks, blanket & wine racks, as well as beautiful stained glass hangings & lamps. His proud initials etched in each piece live on in his work.
Bill and Connie had & loved many dogs during their life together. They were rarely without an animal to care for-each one lived a happy life and were willing participants in their humans' road trip adventures. But it was in Bill that they found their "person". He spent quality time training, walking and passing along the treats for the tricks they would learn. Bill would tell stories of bringing his dog along when he went skiing in the 1960's. His dog would stay at the bottom of the run playing with the occasional child until his master returned.
Bill was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma in 1928. But it was in a trip to Colorado in the 1960's that he discovered his love of the mountains and his heart opened wide! He became a postman: walking his route and coming home to a place he had purchased and generously shared with his parents. He was a loving & devoted son. His hearing disability as a small child was a result of scarlet fever left untreated. This was a source of great challenge in his lifetime. He served his country despite these challenges and the military taught him lip reading. As his sight faded due to macular degeneration, he no longer could read the closed captioned television or send & receive email that was his lifeline to family and friends. Reading lips was made impossible with the very important required masking orders in his care facility.
His family are so proud of this brave man who placed his strong faith in God- knowing that he would be called home "soon". He is healed. He will dance to the music he can now hear. He will see his beloveds again. His step-children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren are happy he is finally home.
