

Bonnie was born in April 8th on a farm in Washta, Iowa. She was one seven children, four sisters and two brothers who have all passed before Bonnie. Her mother died when she was only nine years old. Her dad had to raise them all by himself. Her oldest sister Lon, was like a mother to her.
She went to Grand Meadow Consolidated High School and graduated in 1940. In 1941, at the age of eighteen, she married her high school sweetheart, Bardwell Dickens. She always called him "Bard." For two years, they farmed with Bard's uncle Ed in Oto, Iowa. Then they moved to Walthill and farmed there for seventeen years. They had three children, Jerry, Sharon and Gene. In 1959, they moved to Denver, Colorado. Bard was employed through Martin Marietta and Bonnie worked at the Denver Hilton for fifteen years as a secretary for the Engineering Department. In 1966, Bard passed away. He was only forty-five years old. He had Chronic Renal Failure and was on the kidney machine. They were married for twenty-fives years.
As the years past her children started their own families. Jerry married Janice Lamprecht and they had five children; Lori, Jerry, Shawna, Rusty and Holly. Sharon married Danny Shakin and they had three children; Danny, Tammy and Dino. Gene married Chris Busnardo and they had two children; Jason and Heather.
In 1972, she married Don Jarrett. he was the president of Delta Construction CO. In 1985, Don passed away after five by-pass heart surgeries. They were married for only fourteen years. In 1983, her oldest son Jerry was killed in a truck driving accident in Wakefield, Nebraska. He was only forty years old.
In 1991, she married Jack Copple. They would have celebrated their 33rd anniversary on April 6, 2024. Jack has four children; Kathy, Nancy, Kay and Tim.
Throughout the years, she became a member of the Westminster Methodist Church. She loved to play golf with the Hyland Greens Women's Golf League and she also loved to play Bridge and Pinochle.
