Burt and his twin sister Beverly were born on October 5, 1929 to William and Maude Brewer in Boulder, CO. He attended Lafayette High School and served in the US Army at Fort Benning GA from 1951 to 1953. Burt married Frances Ferrie on March 29, 1953. The couple divorced but remained close friends until Frances’ death in 2009.
Burt was first and foremost a firefighter and lieutenant for West Adams County Fire Protection District from 1962-1987. Throughout his life Burt enjoyed building and construction as a hobby and a business. He and his wife raised their son and daughter in two homes Burt built from the ground up. Over the years, Burt applied his craft constructing and remodeling hundreds of properties throughout Colorado.
Burt, a skilled angler, was most at home on Lake John with a fishing pole in his hands. His family and friends shared some of the best hours with Burt on camping trips and fishing excursions.
Burt was predeceased by his parents, his half-sister Sheila Archer and his stepsister Duke Damiana. He is survived by his son Steven Brewer (Mary Jo) of Bartley, NE, and daughter Deborah Vaughan (Chuck) of Superior, CO; Six grandchildren: Corey Brewer (Dawn) and Adam Brewer of Lincoln, NE; Charles Vaughan (Mandy), Corrin Wilson (Ben), Christopher Vaughan (Sara), and Nicholas Vaughan (Dakota) all of the Denver/Boulder metro area; Eight great grandsons: Charlie, Samuel, Teddy, Lincoln, August, Owen, Titus, and Mason. Burt is also survived by his twin sister, Beverly Hanson of Broomfield, CO.
A private memorial will take place on January 9, 2021 at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
