Starke was born with cerebral palsy, but he never let that define him. He approached life with courage and resilience despite his many challenges. He was Colorado’s Easter Seals' poster child and ambassador in 1972 and went on to graduate from high school with honors and then the University of Northern Colorado. A life-long libertarian, he was hardworking and fiercely independent to the end, holding a telemarketing job for more than 30 years.
Born on June 1,1959, to Byrd and Izola Berman, he is survived by his twin sister, Helen Berman, his elder sister, Beverly Berman, brother-in-law, Jeff Backerman and niece, Lauren Backerman.
Services will be held in the Pavilion of Reflection at Olinger Crown Hill in Wheatridge, Colorado, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Easter Seals of Colorado or Red Rocks Baptist Church in his memory.
