It has been a year " big Daddy" . We sure miss you and think of you often. We love you .

Saddened to hear of Carney's passing. He was a real basketball idol for me during our high school years together. I am sure that down through the years he served as a fine role model for many students. My sympathies and prayers to his entire family.

"Yo Pop, whataya doin Pop?"  I really really miss saying that when I would call you every night after work to tell you about; my day, the weather, the dogs or whatever.  I wish there was a phone in Heaven.  It's really strange not having you available on the other end of the phone. You were always there.

On behalf of Volunteers of America Meals on Wheels Program, I am pleased to inform you that a gift has been made in memory of Carney Crisler.

Mr. Crisler was one of the best teachers at North High School.  I had a lot of respect for him.  May his memory be a blessing.

I've already signed the guest book, but I just had to respond to Mr. Crisler's daughter Amy's entry. Her last comment of "I'll do my best from here on to make you proud", pulled at my heart strings. Judging from her tender thoughts of her Dad, I'll bet he was mighty proud of her already.

Laure and the Crisler family: I send you my deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your family, Laure you have been friends with my sister Denise for so long and you became like family to me and my sisters, we love you and will have you in our thoughts and prayers.

We, Dave Snyder and Rosalie Ambrosio Snyder, were High School Classmates with Carney at North - class of 1956, and have only wonderful memories of him.  He will be greatly missed. 

The three of us were in Mrs. Smiths American History class one of those years...by far, Carney was the smartest guy in the room.  It is no surprise that he went on to teach the subject.  He was a joy to watch on the basketball court and on the baseball field.  He played each game with such ease, but always great athleticism. We remember one Color Day afternoon when the two of us along with Carney were part of a large group who drove up to St. Mary's Glacier for some fun in the snow.  Sure wish we had that day on video to relive again and again.  

We enjoyed working with him on many of the Class Reunion Committees.  His sense of humor at the meetings kept us all in "stitches".  We will cherish the memories forever.

Rest in Peace Dad, we're going to miss you.....

Dad- I don't know what to say except that you have been gone for only 10 days now and it feels like eternity. i miss you. You were the most important person to me in the whole world. I will miss talking to.Thanks for all the good memories. I'll do my best from here on to make you proud.

The Crisler Family had Carney's memorial service on Saturday, Feb. 5. Irv Brown, radio talk show host and sportswriter spoke at the service. There was a wonderful tribute with life story and highlights around 
Carney's basketball, teaching and coaching career.  It is all of you that gave Carney a great life.

Carney and I were very good friends at Skinner and North.
I invited Carney and some other friends to attend church and Sunday School with me at Beth Eden Baptist Church then located at 32nd and Lowell. I don't recall the date, but one Sunday morning as the invitation was given by our Pastor, Dr. Sam Bradford, Carney went forward and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized by immersion in that church, also. I praise God that Carney made this profession of faith and am certain that Carney abides with our Lord in Heaven today. I pray for the comfort of Carney's family in this difficult time. God is good!

Im sorry for youe loss for a great teacher and great guy from Eric lozano, and family with great condolance and respect.

I was a green first year teacher and the 'old' teachers made life hell with advice et al.  Carney befriended me, sat near me in the lounge, made wonderful banter, was full of humor and love for life.  He made my life quite bearable the first two years.  He helped me understand I was there for the students and not for my peers.  He was the best friend ever.  He made me laugh.  He made me feel worthy (or something.)  He was like the old old Champion Sparkplug Ad 'Tough but Oh so Gentle.'  How I loved and respected him.  A REAL man.

To Carney's family, Carney will be missed by all his family. He attended all the Goetz and Crislers get togethers He came to console all the family as our loved ones passed. I want his family know he is in all our hearts. We all loved him although most of the remaining family are not well enough to travel or be in the cold He will be missed   Love and thinking of all of you.

I was a classmate and team mate of Carney Crisler at Skinner Jr High and North High School 1953-1956.Our 55th High School reunion is schedule for August 2011 and Carney will be missed. Although we were close during the school years, I only got to see Carney at the High School reunions which were every 5 years for 50 years. I followed Carney's career as a player and later as a coach. I received great reviews from his players and students. My deepest sympathy to Carney's family.

I was a student at North High School 1962 - 1965 and remember Carney Crisler well.  Although I was never in any of his classes and never played on the teams he helped coach I knew him as a wonderful young man new to teaching who was always there for his students.  My deepest sympathy to his family.

I coached at East High School during the same time that Carney coached at North.  He was an excellent coach and a great guy.  I also got to know him working at Lonnie Porter's basketball camp in the summer.  We had a great time there also.  Carney always showed that he genuinely cared for his players and wanted them to succeed in life as well as basketball.  He will be missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family in this difficult time.

There are some teachers who make a positive impact on students, helping to shape their future lives.  Mr Crisler was one of those special teachers.  
As a North High graduate, I was one of those lucky enough to have had his help in shaping my life.  Thank you Mr. Crisler.

Dear Cathy, Laure, Amy and Mike, I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your father, Carney Crisler. Please except my deepest condolences. I remember your Dad in Jr. and Sr. high as a strong and caring mentor. My prayers are with you all.

I attended North High School from 1973-1976. Each one of us has that one or two special teachers that made an inpact on our lives and Mr. Crisler was one of those for me.  I enjoyed his classes which made me develop a love for american history that I enjoy to this day because of him.  His classroom policy was "if you spend 45 minutes focusing on american history and take good notes on my outline you will have no homework and no problem passing this class'. I only knew Carney from the 1969 Denver teacher strike.  He was a tireless supporter of the strike.  He came to Skinner Jr High to help picket where about half the teachers were still in classes that first day of the strike.  His support and the support of others like him made the strike successful!  The strike became a turning point in our professional lives....teachers discovered their voice... Thanks, Carney!
