Carol Jean Herbolsheimer

July 8, 1941 – March 5, 2025

Carol Jean Herbolsheimer of Thornton, Colorado, beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Carol was born on July 8, 1941, in Sydney, Montana, to Henry and Annie Rau. She grew up in a loving family with six sisters and four brothers. Carol married Gerald D Kukus (deceased), on September 14, 1958. In 1963, they moved their four children to Longmont, Colorado, where they had three more children, and later divorced on November 22, 1971. Carol met the love of her life, Dennis Herbolsheimer in 1985, in Loveland, Colorado, they later married on January 20, 2003, in Thornton, Colorado, and have been inseparable ever since.

She will be remembered for her love and kindness, dedication to her family, serving others, and her faith in the Lord Jesus. She enjoyed playing the piano and accordion. She loved baking, camping, and picnics in the park with family and friends. Carol and Dennis were motorcyclist enthusiasts. For many years they rode their Harley to attend the Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota.

Carol has been affiliated with and supported the American Legion Posts & Associated Veterans throughout Colorado for more than 35 years; the American Legion Post 119, Estes Park, CO., the American Legion Post 15, Loveland CO., and the Northglenn American Legion Post 22, Northglenn, CO.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Annie Rau, four brothers, Albert Rau, Elmer Rau, Jim Rau, Melvin Rau, and four sisters, Alice Strasheim, Alvina Schmitt, Emma Uhrich, and Shirley Price, and one nephew, Raymond Strasheim. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Herbolsheimer, and three sons, Craig (Danika) Kukus, Kevin (Brenda) Kukus, Brian (Pat) Kukus, and four daughters, Lynn (Steve) Teal, Rhonda (Bill) Graham, Patty Kukus, and Paula (Tom) Cittadino, and two sisters, Donna Webber and Joanne Hagler (both of Sydney, Montana), and two sisters-in-law, Jan Zierke and Marilyn Bachman (both of Nebraska), 65 grand/great grandchildren, and 20 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by a Reception from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Procession to Graveside at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Both dates will occur at Olinger Crown Hill 7777 W. 29th Ave. Wheat Ridge, CO, 80033.
