Carolyn grew up in North Denver attending North High School and continuing her education at Colorado State College of Education, where she earned her teaching degree. She taught first and second grades for over thirty years, touching the lives of over 850 students.
Carolyn was married to Grady Hale Jr. from 1956 until his death in 1982. Together they raised two daughters, Alison Hale Sims and Carlene Hale Sousa. They were active members of North Presbyterian Church in Denver, and later Beth Eden Baptist Church in Lakewood.
Carolyn was a believer in the Lord and shared her faith with family and friends. As a mother to Alison and Carlene, she and their father, Grady, made church a priority to their family. They shared a love for the fellowship found in Sunday school groups, Bible studies, and other small group opportunities. Carolyn was often times the host of her daughters’ high school youth group gatherings, preparing not just the place for the group, but the food as well.
As her daughters became active in High School musicals and plays, she was always the one to host the cast party or just welcome the friends in for hang time. Her house was nearly always full of family or teenagers.
In 1984, Carolyn married Daniel Milloy. They were married 25 years until his death in 2010. Together, they traveled the world, often with various bike tours. She enjoyed skiing until after her 80th birthday, hiking, traveling with her daughters, visiting with her step daughters, Leslie Milloy and Meredith McIntyre as well as grandchildren, Aaron Sims, Alex Sims, Haley Grimes, Caroline Martinez, MacKenzie Foley, Callahan Foley, and Ethan McIntyre.
She will be missed by her family and friends.
