

Carolyn Louise (Peltz) Richard was born January 22, 1924, in Sedgwick, Colorado to Amelia and George Peltz. She departed this life on Wednesday October 11, 2023, at Brookdale Senior Living and Memory Care in Arvada, CO due to dementia.
Carolyn graduated from high school and attended Beautician School. She opened her own salon which was located near DU (University of Denver).
She was married to William Richard on January 12, 1952.
Mom kept her salon until she began her family. Later, she worked for Shwayders which made samsonite luggage. After Shwayder's, she opened a small neighborhood grocery store with her sister Marge and named it C & M Shop and Save in Globeville, CO where her parents lived which was a German and Polish community. When the lease expired, she opened a grocery store on Federal Blvd called Crestview Market and put her three children to work while they were in high school and college. After the lease expired on that business, she bought a liquor store called Commerce Town Liquors and was successful in running the business until she retired. She was a businesswoman before her time.
She is survived by her son Bruce Richard (Janet), and Carla Becker (Richard), Iverta Richard (daughter-in-law), six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband William Richard and son Anthony Richard, and her siblings four brothers and four sisters.
