Carolyn was born on October 7, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, where she spent most of her life. On January 11, 1964, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Stoakes. Together they built a loving home and raised four children: Roger Stoakes, Lucy Tobin, Laura Bronk, and Linette Botarelli.
Carolyn devoted many years of her career to the beauty industry. She began as a beautician and, through her dedication and talent, eventually became the manager of a beauty salon. She took pride in helping others look and feel their best, forming many lasting friendships along the way.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Carolyn loved bowling, camping, fishing, sewing, and gardening. She took great pride in her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens, which were admired by everyone who knew her. She also enjoyed canning and pickling the fruits of her harvest, sharing them with family and friends. Her gardens reflected the same patience, care, and love that she shared so freely with those around her.
After moving to Florida in 2024, Carolyn quickly became close friends with many of the residents at Greenwood Place. She embraced her new community with the same warmth and kindness that defined her life, enjoying bingo, singing, and ice cream socials. Her joyful spirit and friendly smile made her a cherished friend to both residents and staff.
Above all else, Carolyn will be remembered for her generous heart and welcoming home. Family, friends, and neighbors always knew there would be something cooking on the stove. She insisted that no one ever leave her home hungry, and sharing a meal was one of the many ways she expressed her love. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, comfort, and unconditional acceptance.
Carolyn is lovingly survived by her son, Roger Stoakes (Debbie); her daughters, Lucy Tobin (Pat) and Linette Botarelli (David); her 12 grandchildren: Tyler, Steve, Rachael, Sean, Jasmine, Jessica, Ally, Drew, Kayla, Austin, Kathryn, and Hailey; and her seven great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish the love, wisdom, and countless memories she shared.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Stoakes; her daughter, Laura Bronk; her grandson, Drew Bronk; her infant granddaughter Forest, her sisters, Glenna Funk and Betty Eagan; and her brother, Eldwin “Spark” Williams.
Carolyn’s life was defined not by the things she owned, but by the love she freely gave. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
