Yik Sok Chan, 81 has passed away at her home in Denver, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019.

Chan was born in Phnom Siempov, Cambodia on July 10, 1939. Chan grew up in Cambodia and married Chau Chhoung in 1958. When the Khmer Rouge seized control of Cambodia, Chan and her family escaped to a refugee camp in Thailand and migrated to the United States in 1981.

In August 1983, Chan and her family moved to Colorado and she worked at the Sheraton Hotel in Denver for 17 years and was forced to retire after sustaining severe injuries in a traffic accident.

Chan loved gardening and planting her flowers, for the last 32 years you would find her outside in her straw hat and gardening gloves planting and tending to her beautiful flowers and vegetables. What she loved most was to spend time with her family; she would call and talk to her daughters daily, hours on end.

Chan is survived by her husband, Chhoung Chau of Denver; daughter, Fong (David) Chhor of Greeley; five grandchildren, Sam (Chann) Chhor, Irene (Bryan) St. Martin, Johnnie Chen, Amy Chhor, and Henry Chhor; two great-grandchildren, Mark and Melissa; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Preceded in death by her brothers, Yik Feark Wa and Yik Kok Yan; daughter, Chau Seav Choung; and granddaughter, Anna Chen.
