

Charlie died of natural causes at home surrounded by loved ones. After graduating from St. Frances high school, he served in the Army from 10/20/1946 – 08/2/1948. He attended boot camp in Ft. Riley, KS and then was stationed with the 58th Signal Battalion in Japan as a Gunner and then a high speed radio operator. He installed & operated tactical field radio transmitting & receiving equipment. Messages were sent by International Morse Code signal and by light signal. He was active in the American Legion and VFW where he enjoyed bonding with fellow veterans over a Coors Light.
He worked at Meadow Gold as a teenager where he had several jobs, one being a welder. He then joined the family business, C.F. Hoeckel Company, in the early 1950s where they sold office supplies and did a variety of printing. After retiring from the family business he worked for Land Title alongside his brother Frank until he was 95.
He married Mary Delubina “Dell” Gallegos in Hotchkiss Colorado in 1951. Their first home was an apartment on Birch St. after which they moved to a duplex which they called “the double” in 1954. They were able to buy their first house in 1960 where they created a loving home and raised their two children, Lynn and Bob.
He is survived by his wife Dell; Children: Lynn (Chip) Bosman and Bob (Cheryl) Dunst; Grandchildren: McKenzie (Gabe) Retalia, Shelby (Brandon) McCaslin, Whitney (Brendan) Murphy, and Aydin Bosman; Great Grandchildren: Lucas and Dylan McCaslin, Ashlynn, Preston and Spencer Murphy, and Hudson Retalia; Brother: Frank Dunst. He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Olga Dunst and 5 siblings
