Brian was born on April 12, 1969 in Twin Falls, Idaho. When he was three months old, his family moved back to Colorado. Brian became a long time resident of Lakewood. He attended Jefferson County Schools, graduating from Wheat Ridge High School. He went on to college at Western State where he graduated cum laude with a degree in communications and a minor in business.
After college, Brian spent a year in Maryland. After returning to Lakewood, he worked at places as diverse as Builder’s Square, music stores, the University of Denver, and the Colorado Department of Education. Brian most recently worked night shift security, primarily at the Colorado Convention Center.
Brian loved the challenge of the Sunday New York Times crossword and 1,000+ piece jigsaw puzzles. He enjoyed watching and collecting classic films as well as Mystery Science Theater, game shows and The Simpsons. With a wide-ranging appreciation of music since high school, Brian also collected CDs and concert films.
Brian was a cat person. His cats Pearl and Bobo kept him company. Pearl enjoyed sleeping on top of Brian, and Bobo liked being king of the house.
Always a night person, Brian passed away just before midnight on October 27 at age 52. He had been in hospice for over a week with multiple organ failure following a very challenging year for his mental and physical health.
Brian is survived by his parents Chuck and Susan, his sister Erin and her partner Bryan, cousins Chris and Richie, and wonderful friends.
No services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Brian’s memory to Lakewood’s Cat Care Society, or contact them to give Pearl and/or Bobo a new forever home.
