Che Francis Derrera, 53, passed away on June 30, 2026, just days after celebrating his birthday. He was born on June 24, 1973, and lived a life defined by resilience, determination, and an unforgettable spirit.
Che was many things throughout his life—a hustler, a fighter, a wordsmith, and, above all, a true survivor. No matter the obstacles he faced, he met them with strength and perseverance. He had a gift for storytelling, and through his words he shared wisdom, laughter, and lessons that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His stories reflected a life fully lived, and his insight will continue to inspire those who carry his memory forward.
More than anything, Che's legacy lives on through the people who loved him. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Cheyane Derrera; his sister, Trish Mestas; his nephews, Francisco, Angelo, Adrian, and Andrew; and his many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom will cherish the memories, guidance, and love he shared.
Che was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Carol Derrera, whose love and influence helped shape the man he became.
Though his time with us has come to an end, Che's strength, wisdom, and unmistakable voice will never be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, love, and stories that will continue to be told for generations.
He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
