Dave Davenport died September 19, 2016 after a brief illness. Born January 26, 1929 in Chatsworth, Georgia, Dave joined the Air Force at 17. He spent the majority of his 20 years of military service in Germany where he met his wife to be, Ruth. Together they raised a family and traveled extensively both nationally and internationally. Dave saw the world including China, Russia, South America, Egypt, and all of Europe. He was very proud of the beautiful home he helped design that overlooked the city. He loved gardening both indoor and out. He enjoyed wood carving, as well as a short bout of amateur taxidermy. After Ruth’s passing, Dave moved to the Atria retirement community where he was an ambassador-at-large. He enthusiastically attended most activities offered, especially the daily exercise classes. He was a character who loved life and made the most of it. He was especially loved by small children and animals. He will be missed. Dave is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth. Survived by his daughters Sherry (Glenn) and Karen (Bob). As well as grandchildren Spencer, Walt, and Mariah. Graveside service and full Military Honors will be Monday, September 26, 2016at 12:15 pm at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
