Coletta Jean Gaunt

March 9, 1940April 25, 2021

Coletta Jean Fischahs Gaunt, 81 of Canon City, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, April 25, 2021 in Pueblo, Colorado. Coletta was born in Denver, Colorado on March 9, 1940 to Marguerite Maul Fischahs and William Fischahs. She has a younger sister, Peggy. The parents divorced and Marguerite married Marcellus Roach when Coletta was 8. They traveled with the carnival for several years so the girls were in and out of schools. One of her great accomplishments was getting her GED later in life.

September 13, 1955 she married Charles Thomas Gaunt in Commerce City. Along with her husband they were very involved in square dancing, holding many positions in the Denver Council, Colorado State Square Dance Association and Southeast Area Council. They were Education Chairs for the 2004 National Square Dance Convention held in Denver.

Coletta had a few jobs with H.W. Moore Equipment, Plotters Supply and Dr. E.J. Hesse. She took pride in her ability as a self-taught account manager.

The family was part of a traveling RV caravan and spent many weekends, camping, fishing and just spending family time together. She was a bit of a miracle lady having lost a lung in 2009 but still carrying on day to day. After her husbands passing in 2010 Coletta found new friends and involvement with the Golden Age Center in Canon City, holding positions on the Board. The neighbors would get together 3 times a week and play cards which helped with socializing during the last year – always days to look forward to.

Coletta Jean is survived by daughter, Lynn Rapp (John), sons Rodney Gaunt (Pam) and James Gaunt (Rae), sister Peggy Hite (William), granddaughter Candace Licata, step-granddaughter Maria Graham (Donovan), grandsons Corie Rapp, William Gaunt (Sherie), Charles Gaunt II (Yolie) and Kenneth Gaunt, step-grandson Kenneth Heller (Heather), 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by husband Charles Gaunt, infant child Roger, a half sister Wilma McCoy and granddaughter Samantha Jo Gaunt.

Services will be at 2:00pm on Fri. May 7 with visitation 1 hour prior at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary (w. 29th Ave. and Wadsworth). Burial to follow.

Her service will be livestreamed. Link below will be available 10 minutes prior to service starting.
