Colleen R. Ferris-Taylor

Colleen graduated from Wheat Ridge High School and went on to live a full and adventurous life. She first became a mother to her son, Bob Hurt, and in 1950 married Jesse Lewis. Together they raised three children — Mary Pearson, William Lewis, and Ralph Lewis, who passed away at a young age.

A woman of many talents and boundless energy, Colleen learned to sew and play the piano as a young girl. Over the years, she became a dedicated and gifted quilt maker and crocheter, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured by her family for generations. She loved to travel and seek out new adventures, always curious and full of life.

Colleen was a longtime member of Mile Hi Church in Lakewood, where she also joined the Wisdom Keepers and helped form the band Wisdom Gone Wild. Her deep appreciation for heritage and family led her to devote countless hours to genealogy, compiling and preserving an extensive family history book for her loved ones.

Throughout her life, Colleen pursued many passions — running a dog kennel and grooming business, helping with home daycare, and always lending a hand wherever it was needed. She was a devoted caregiver to her family and friends, known for her warmth, generosity, and the way she made everyone feel loved.

She cherished her seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren — with one more on the way. Her love of angels, hummingbirds, and red cardinals was well known, and she often said that everyone had an angel watching over them.

To those who knew her, Grandma Colleen was more than a grandmother — she was a source of love, comfort, and kindness to anyone who needed it. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose spirit of giving and joy for life touched everyone she met.

Services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Crown Hill.

A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a service at 10:00 a.m., and a graveside ceremony at 11:00 a.m.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
