Cora Lee was born April 27, 1928 to Lee and Vauda (Hutchens) Schehrer in Green Ridge, MO. In 1938, the family moved to California. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Education at the University of California, Berkeley and married Arno W. Enns in 1949. Together, they were called to overseas missionary service shortly thereafter.
Appointed by Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society (now WorldVenture) in 1952 to serve in Argentina, they moved there in 1954 to start churches and train church leaders. After 18 successful years in northern Argentina, they returned to WorldVenture’s main office in Wheaton IL. For the next 20 years, her cross-cultural experience and dedication to helping others led her to teach children in the bilingual education program of the West Chicago School District.
They eventually retired in Westminster, CO (Covenant Village Retirement Home) to be near family.
Cora Lee will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie (Tim) Hoops, Sanny (Dennis) Sutton, Markie (Brad) Anderson, Laurie (Bruce) Swanson for her strength of character, her dedication to her Lord, as well as her gentle and kind spirit. Her grandchildren Calvin (Staci) Hoops, Shannon (Owen) Ripley, Kristen (John) MacDonald, Bradley (Sheri) Sutton, Carrie (Jared) King, Alyssa (Kenny) Cruzen, Nat Anderson, Dan (Erica) Swanson, Christie (Michael) Stalcup, Andrea (Jason) Hedger and 16 great grandchildren remember her fondly for her faith and sweetness of spirit. Cora Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Arno Enns, in February, 2018 and her sister, Edwina Bergen, in December, 2024.
A graveside service will be held in Wheat Ridge, CO at Crown Hill Cemetery for family.
