To all of you wonderful Shipmans.....Rusty was "one of a kind", but you already know that.  She was kind, smart, and funny beyond believe.  I was my good fortune to have met her through her wonderful daughter Evvy, many years ago.  I am so sorry for your loss.

What a beautiful and sweet spirit my Aunt Rusty was.  Love and peace to all who miss her earthly presence, but joy to all who know we'll see her again in heaven.

When we first met, she was Mrs. Shipman to me.  She was a great mentor to me, and I always knew I could go to her if needed.  As time went by she became Rusty to me.  A mentor and...a  friend.  My heart aches for yall.  We miss her already.  Love Janet Redshaw

Uncle Frank, Mary, Denny, Jinny Stewart and Evvy,
Today, as we reflect on my Aunt Rusty's beautiful and generous life, I pray for God's healing hands to bless all of you with the peace and comfort only He can provide.  As we suffer through this time of grief, I also pray that we all arrive quickly to the time when our grief is overwhelmed by gratitude that your  wife and mother is now, truely. being blessed by God's overwhelming love in her well deserved new home in heaven.  
To you, Aunt Rusty, we send our love as we bid you farwell and we look forward to joining you when each of our jobs is done here. I pray we leave behind a light of love and compassion as bright and warm as that light that you left us with. God Bless You, sweet soul!

To the Shipman family, our deepest sympathy in the loss of a wonderful woman that we were so fortunate to have as a neighbor for so many years.  And then to reconnect recently was such fate.  Our Aunt Marie so enjoyed her company and now the two of them along with our mom are together again, no doubt sharing more stories of each of their families. Although I did not know her, I know she was special because her daughter, Jinny, is a caring, dedicated, and loving. May memories of "Rusty" sustain you as you move forward without her presence.

Alvin and I were sorry to hear of the  loss your mother.  Jinny has spoken of her  mother as a very loving  and positive  woman. We would have loved to have been able to know her.
We are blessed to have her daughter Jinny and her husband Dick as friends.

Good people like Rusty help make life joyful. I did let Rusty know that I loved and appreciated her while she was alive. 

She was one of the few real encouragers I knew in life. We had a mutual admiration society that we joked about. There were so many things I admired about her. She was well educated and also wise. She was always aware of the current events and could talk on all subjects.  She always dressed with great taste and kept her body in good shape. She found things to appreciate in me that few people took time to notice. 

She was funny and fun to be around. We had a lot of fun going to the opera, symphony, tea rooms, and special restaurants. We also had a spiritual bond and she shared some excellent books with me, as well as just witnessing and speaking loudly with her life. She was thoughtful in sooooooo many ways and was a Real Class Act. 

She will be missed greatly for now but I am looking forward to spending eternity with her in the new and better life with our Heavenly Father and our Savior.

Aunt Rusty was wonderful, loving, positive, and supportive always!  Rusty was a wonderful mother and wife as I got to see first hand through zillions of visits over the years and particularly when I spent a week with Rusty and family when my mother was in the hospital when I was about 8 years old.  Being an only child I was amazed at how Rusty paid special attention to everyone in the family and made them feel loved and special.  I got that feeling from her too...

What a sweet spirit Aunt Rusty always was.  I agree with Sharon that she was great at helping make awesome childhood memories.  She had a way of making you feel special.  That feeling of "special" was also shared with Michael,Ryan,and Haley by Frank and Rusty when they opened their retirement home to Doug and I for a summer vacation.  Who else would build a silver mine (with quarters in a sand box) for kids.  A visit with them was always an adventure.  

Thinking of all of you.  May God have his loving arms around you all in the coming days. My love to you all.

I first met Rusty when Bill and Evvy were dating.  They invited us for Thanksgiving dinner to their comfortable home in Hartsel.  Our kids married and we share a grandson (Will).  I will miss the "mare with the flare".  She was my friend and my sympathy to all of the Shipman family.

Dear, sweet Aunt Rusty. She truly did not have a mean bone in her body. I have admired her so much through the years. I think Ray expressed it correctly; she had an outlook and attitude somewhat foreign to us Texans. But I try to emulate her attitude of gratitude and her sweet, genuinely caring spirit. I will not forget how she sat in the waiting room at the hospital through the wee hours of the mornings as my mother lived her final days. Just her presence was such a comfort. And she has passed these wonderful qualities to her children. What an awesome legacy. Hugs to Uncle Frank and all my wonderful cousins. I love you all so much, and I am praying for peace for you all. She was by far my favorite neighbor. She always had time to stop and talk to a loney little girl. I had many fun times playing her piano and playing don't spill the beans at her house! Her house was one of the favorits in the neighborhood to trick-or-treat at. She would dress up like a witch and when we knocked she would slowly open the door and then scare the bejeebers out of us! Super fun!! She helped me make many great childhood memories :)

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom. I always enjoyed the times we visited and talked. That New York background and independence gave her an outlook and attitudes that were refreshingly different and really interesting compared to the rural/suburban Texas world that my roots are in,and that I have lived in my entire life. She had a way of saying important things in a really understated but effective way.

I'll remember lots of things,but some of the highlights will be riding in cramped cars with y'all in the 50's and 60's (the black and white Chevy station wagon,the red VW bus) with your folks in the front seat,getting my first Legos from the Shipmans in Germany,trying homemade rhubarb pie on Pueblo Court in Thornton (I don't really like it so much!),leaving a 7 month old son with your Mom while we went skiing (what the heck was I thinking? I can't believe now that I imposed on family like that!), visiting the Shipman Shangri-La,and making a trip to Davies Chuck Wagon Diner with your Mom and Dad the last time I was in Denver a couple of years ago.

We are thinking of you and the others in your family (even the ones I don't have e-mail addresses for!). Take care of yourselves and stay in touch.

Very sorry for your loss.  Although I didn't know her, Jinny was a classmate of mine, and I was a teacher aide when Evvy was at Clayton.  Stewart was one heck of  a basketball player.  My sympathies to the family.

I will miss Rusty's happy and enthusiastic spirit. She was fun to be around and always had something wise and cheerful to share.  I feel blessed to have known her.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the many lives she touched.

What a woman and what an Aunt!  Many of my favorite times were when I got to spend time with my Uncle Frank, Aunt Rusty and my sweet cousins, Mary Dell, Jenny, Denny, Stewart and Evy!  Aunt Rusty was so good to me and I loved talking to her.  She always made me feel so special!  Thank you Aunt Rusty for the wonderful childhood memories!  You will always be in my thoughts.   My prayers and love go out to my Uncle Frank, and my sweet cousins, Mary, Jenny, Denny, Evy and Stewart.  I love you all!

Rusty was always a sunny spot in anyone's day.I will miss her sweet smile. She touched so many with her kindness.
