Born Corrine Elizabeth Cornell to parents Joseph and Elizabeth Cornell June 25, 1933. Sister to Joan, Jean & Janice. Wife to Francis Brady and Billy Brown. Loving mother to Francis Jr, Karen, Julie and Pamela. Beloved Mother in Law to David, Christopher, Robert and Malle. Grandmother to Ashleigh, Jessica, Samuel, Sean, Katie, Christina, Cody & Miranda. Great-grandmother to Kaya, Nathanael, Caleb, Matthias, Solomon, Ryder, Rory and Brody.
Connie was a devoted wife to her husband, Bill, for over 40 years. Together they enjoyed dancing, camping, fishing, motorcycle riding, travel and gambling- and especially in their later years, playing cards together each evening at their kitchen table. She loved canning her favorite Palisade fruits and vegetables over the years while living in Clifton. You may even have enjoyed some of her delicious peach jam! They met through their mutual best friends and married in July of 1978. This July, their 40th celebration, was bittersweet as they knew it would be their last.
While gifted with a strong faith, she believed that she was granted extra time here on earth to be able to make sure that her beloved husband was settled into his new surroundings in Arvada, and was well cared for in her absence. She practiced gratitude daily for her many blessings of family, friends and nursing staff. She delighted in every delicious dessert they served at Mountain Vista Assisted Living! She had been given a “free pass” after following a strict diabetic diet for many years. Once she was diagnosed with heart and kidney failure and put under the care of hospice, she relished each bite-and the way that she closed her eyes and smiled with each bite will not soon be forgotten.
Connie grew up in the depression era of “make do or do without”. Although learning at a young age how to be frugal, she was still generous beyond measure. She gifted handmade afghans, hats, necklaces to both family and friends and also donated them to hospitalized children and breast cancer patients. Each grandchild has enjoyed a lasting memory of her in their own warm afghan. She loved both her computer and Samsung tablet and was very proficient at downloading and playing games, sending off emails and printing out her own personalized cards. Her extra effort at making a card for you made your receipt of it even more special.
Her life ended peacefully in their apartment at Mountain Vista Assisted Living. She was appreciated for her sense of humor, her interest in and concern for others and for her outpouring of love and gratitude to all that she met along her 85-year journey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lutheran Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge, who lovingly cared for her on a weekly basis for over sixteen precious months.
Visitation on Mon. 10/8 from 3-4pm with services at 3:00 pm on Tues. 10/9 with burial to follow, all at Olinger Crown Hill.
