On September 11, 1942 Danny Lee was born to Ava (McKinney) and Emery Nissen in Webster City, Iowa. Mr. Nissen was not to stay long in Danny's life and was soon replaced by Milton Miller, Sr. who adopted Danny as his own son. Danny grew up with the usual small town life and was joined by (2) sisters, Mary Anne and Connie, and a brother, Milton Jr. They spent many happy days with their grandparents Sylvester and Pauline McKinney as well as their Aunt Martha and Uncle James Tarpenning. These times proved to be some of the happiest in Danny's life and he always spoke happily about how much loved them all.
Danny graduated high school and married his first wife, Kay in July of 1963. They were blessed with three children, Mike, Cindy, and Dana. Cindy was taken by SIDS at the age of 48 days. In the mid 1960's Danny and his family moved to the Denver area. Kay and Danny divorced in the late 1960's. For a period of time Danny worked as a landscaper and memorial stone layer at Crown Hill Cemetery. After leaving Crown Hill, Danny began to work (2) full-time jobs. One was a gas station attendant and one was a truck driver for Butler Paper Company. It was around this time that he met his second wife, Carol. They were married in September of 1969. Not too long after that Danny decided to quit his job at the gas station to focus on his full time truck driver job. Danny and Carol had a daughter, Sandra. During this time he was active in the CB community, proudly rode his motorcycle, and was a proud Sergeant-At-Arms for his local Salvation Army Church. Danny loved to be in nature, always wanting to go fishing or hunting and he always found time to go. He was the grandfather of (4) grandchildren. He continued to work for Butler Paper for 28 years before retiring in the late 1990's. After retiring he began to sing and play guitar for a small band. Around this time he met Yvonne, who would become his long-time partner. He continued to play music for places like the Elk's until he became ill with diabetes. Danny struggled with his diabetes and lost the bottom portion of his leg to an infection that we exasperated by his disease. This caused his life to slow down quite a bit. He was then plagued by a cancer that most of us were unaware of. The cancer took Danny from our lives on April 4, 2013. He is loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
Danny is survived by his son Michael &(Leigh) Miller, daughters; Dana &(Rick) Bates, and Sandra &(Sean) Abbott, brother Milton &(Rhonda) Milton, Jr., sisters Mary Anne, and Connie, special companion Yvonne Mishler, grandchildren; Zack, AmberLace, Woody Miller, and Eibhlin Abbott. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Milton, Sr. & Ava Miller, and a daughter Cindy Miller.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Pavilion of Reflection, Saturday, April 20th, 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Danny's to either the; American Cancer Society, 2255 S.
