Darleen was born in Alliance, NE on April 27, 1930 and grew up the Scottsbluff, NE area. She attended
Doane College in Crete, NE.
Darleen was married to Oville Peters on November 21, 1951. They were married sixty three years and
were blessed with 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Darleen was Wife, Mom and
Grammy extraordinaire. She devoted her life to being a loving, supportive and fun parent and
grandparent.
Darleen worked as a teacher for a few years and then as a beauty counter drugstore clerk in
Scottsbluff where she met Oville; the store pharmacist. They married and bought a home in Morrill, NE
before welcoming first-born, Greg, to the family. A few years later daughter, Nancy, was born. The
family eventually moved to Grand Junction, CO. Though Darleen never lived in Nebraska again, she
was a Cornhusker at heart. Her memories of her homeland sustained her until her last breath.
Daughter, Cindy, was born in Grand Junction. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to the Mile High
City, thus the beginning of their 50+ years in the Denver area. After moving to Golden, CO Darleen had
her 4th child, Pam. It was 7 years later that the family was blessed with an adorable little brother, John.
Darleen spent most of her time taking care of her husband and family, but enjoyed sewing, reading,
studying the Bible, and decorating her home in her spare time. She ‘adopted’ each of her children’s
spouses in to her family fold and never considered or treated them as anything but her own kids. Her
ability to love unconditionally was remarkable.
Darleen is survived by her children Greg Peters of Carbondale, CO, Nancy Weiman of Golden, CO,
Cindy Carlson of Westwood, KS, Pam Molloy of Golden, CO and John Peters of Sanford, NC. She is
also survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Darleen is preceded in death by her parents Clive and Elsie Hartman, her brother Neal Hartman and
her beloved husband Oville Peters.
Her Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Olinger Crown Hill, Chapel of Peace.
