David was born July 25, 1942, in Chicago, IL. As a boy he loved fishing, hunting and sitting in the Wrigley Field press box with his uncle during Cubs games. He graduated from Libertyville-Fremont High School in 1960 and went on to earn a B.A. degree from Dakota Wesleyan University and both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Geology at the University of Colorado.
David dedicated his life to Geology and the exploration of minerals. His highly sought-after skills took him around the United States, South America and Africa. After 35 years he returned to Colorado to focus on spending time with his family.
David enjoyed fishing, baseball, his newly restored 1969 Chevy truck, and his dog, Bella. He loved traditions, like making Glügg from his Norwegian family’s recipe. But mostly, he loved spending time with his family and watching his grandkids in their seemingly unending activities.
David will be remembered for his deep love for family and friends, his desire to spend quality time and to connect; his one-liners, his laugh and his fiercely independent (and sometimes stubborn) spirit.
David is survived by his children, Darcy Anne Glenn and Megan Anne Christensen; grandchildren, Ryder James Glenn and Birdie Estelle Glenn; and his sweet Australian Shephard Bella. He is preceded in death by his parents Vern and Estelle Christensen, as well as his sister Tina Christensen.
A celebration of life will be held at David’s house at 5598 Orion Circle, Golden, CO 80403 on Saturday July 25, 2026. A brief ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00am and will include a short walk to one of his favorite places. This will be followed by refreshments and lunch until 2:00pm.
