What a treasure of a man Dave is.  He is sorely missed.  All of the house parties he and Debbie have held over the years ring in my mind with Dave chuckling, enjoying guests and holding his bottle of beer, while dressed in costume or jeans and a plaid, flannel shirt.  Dave, carry on with those wonderful parties, as we will do the same here in your honor.

At the service on Saturday you remembered that I brought Ice Cream to dinner at the  Chase Street house when you were very young. It must have been more than once for you to remember that all these years later.  That was the honey frozen Vanilla Yogurt from The Gemini at 42nd and Wadsworth. 

The Gemini was one of Dave's favorite places for us to meet for lunch or dinner when we were working for CDC / Bell Atlantic in that area of town. By the way the same yogurt is available at the Fro-Zone Frozen Yogurt store in Lakewood. The Gemini had an excellent sandwich called The Wheatridge Farmer.

Moose Hill, Schlotzsky's, and Bennett's Barbeque were some others.

Dave helped me when memories of Vietnam and 1968 finally caught up to me. He was a great friend!

I'm Dave's Brother, Len, or as Dave nicknamed me  - Ace,

As many of you know, there are allot of great stories and tales about my brother Dave, but today I would like to share something from my childhood, from a time a little over 45 years ago.  The year was 1968, I was just 7 years old and Dave was 15.  Our father had just been sent off for a year-long tour in Vietnam and we moved in with our Grandmother Jesse in the little town of Selinsgrove PA.  I was kind of a bratty 7 year old, but Dave handled it well, looked beyond that and saw that all I needed was some attention. Attention that a father figure would have normally provided.  One Saturday morning, he and I walked a few blocks to the North end of town and bought a bag of night crawlers and then headed to the South to pick up some fishing rods from our Uncle Red.  We then headed further South to where our Cousin Butch kept his rowboat on the banks of Penns Creek.  He rowed up stream to a little fishing hole and there we talked and fished, catching and releasing what was probably the same Sun Fish over and over.  When the day was over, he let me row back down stream, where we stowed our cousin's boat. We continued that ritual several more times during that year in Pennsylvania and we became much closer despite the age difference. These fishing trips lead to talking about other things we ended up doing together.  He taught me how to play tennis and together we excelled at losing tennis balls.  Since we were so good at loosing balls, he decided we should try golf too.  Today I am not much better at either one of those sports, but am always willing to grab a racket or a club to just have some fun as did he.  There was one other thing that my brother Dave introduced to me that year that I continue to enjoy on a weekly basis today.  On a very cold evening in the Winter of that year, Dave took me down to a place called Little Norway on the banks of Penns Creek.  Little Norway was an outdoor skating pond and I was instantly a fan.  That pond probably only froze over a handful more times that Winter, but when it did, Dave and I went.  I don't think Dave skated much after that year, but I continued to do so over the years, learning to play Hockey well enough to make the Georgia Tech team and later to coach youth hockey and today I am still playing old man hockey every Sunday.  My son Jeremy, kind of started the same way and now plays Hockey for Auburn University.  This is just one of the legacies that Dave started, many far more important than this one, but none the less one that I will always remember. Thanks Dave.

What an abrupt and incomprehensible loss--to lose such an accomplished, intelligent, generous, and talented person from our lives--engineer, pilot, historian, scoutmaster, and other skills so numerous--all of which he was so willing to share with others--and always with that remarkable sense of humor and quick wit! Even more, we lose a great husband, a father of two outstanding sons, and a friend to so many...he is such a great example to us all.

Debbie I am so sorry for your loss.  I had the pleasure to work with Dave at Storagetek.  I will always remember his humor.  He was a great person.

Dave was truly a “man's man”.  He wasn't just a son, husband, father, brother, uncle, or a friend, he was a caring son, a loving husband, an amazing father, an easy-going brother, wonderful uncle, and generous a friend.  Debbie, because of both you and Dave, your family has extended far beyond your relatives.  You were both bless with brothers, sisters, sons and daughters from other parents through all the organizations you two belonged to  This is truly because of your thoughtfulness, love, hard work and caring which touched the live lives of people in these groups.  This includes neighbors, Scouters, co-workers, the local St. Bernard rescue group, the VFW and the Red Hatters, just to name a few.  Although it may not seem like it right now, your family has been given a wonderful blessing in the prayers, love and caring which has poured forth during this tragic time in your lives.  Losing Dave will be one of the hardest, if not the most difficult thing you all will go through, but I believe this is what Dave would tell you if he could:  Don't shed tears because I'm gone; smile because I lived, laughed and loved with each of you.  Don't close your eyes and pray that I'll come back; open them, and see all that I've left as my legacy to each of you.  Don't let your heart be empty because you can't see or touch me; keep it full of the love we shared.  Don't remember me because I'm gone, cherish the memories you will forever carry in your heart, mind and soul, and let me live on through each you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dave was such a nice man and had a great sense of humor. Debbie you and Dave were a wonderful couple I will miss seeing you together. My thoughts are with you and our family.

Looking back over the years Dave was always there with quick whit and humor. The moments he shared always seemed to brighten the day. I cant remember to many days that discussions with him always included his excitement about things with family, if it wasn't Debbie it was the boys or grand kid, of course cant forget the dogs. Worked with Dave both in the StorageTek days and now with IBM, his help, knowledge and willingness to be there have always been appreciated end respected. 
As a Husband, Father, Grand Father, Coworked and Friend Dave has impacted many peoples lives and will be deeply missed by all that know him. My deepest sympathies and thaughts go to his wife and children and to all of his family and friends.

 Zack and Ben ... I worked with your father for about 15 years starting with when he left the Coke Company and hired on at Control Data Engineering Services in Denver. I donot remeber the exact data but it was around 1980. Dave was assigned to me to work at a large Electronic Data Systems account in Denver. 

Dave was always a pleasure to work with, a stickler for details (I am the same way about details) and caught on very quickly. 

Lots of jokes and stories. I guess you could say that I was his mentor, one of several that I worked with in the computer business, starting in 1967. 

So if any of you folks at Sun, STC or (Storage Tech as we called it) Before the stock offering changed it to STK noticed this, I guess I am to blame, to some extent, for reinforcing this tendency.

There were others also. If you have seen the movie Argo recently, Dave and I worked directly for the EDS managers that planned and carried out the raid. These guys were into details and planning to the max! They had an office on the 5th floor of the Blue Cross building ... so Dave and I had to always "be on our toes". We never knew when they might make up "a plan" for us if we made a mistake! Hope the humor is appropriate.

I was at the house at Chase Street shortly after Zack arrived from the hospital (might have been Ben). Dave so happy and proud! Juniper, the Black Lab was so excited with her tail going at 100 MPH that she had trouble walking, mostly running, on the waxed floor.

Dave had an orange Opel Kadet that he kept in perfect condition.

I will miss him so much!

Although I've only known Dave for a very brief several months, he was one of the first to welcome me, as an IBM contractor, to Boulder. And since, it has always been a pleasure to run into Dave in the hallways and computer rooms at work, as Dave always had the knack of putting a cheerful outlook on my day. He will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences goes out to the entire Fisher family.

Sarah and I offer our deepest sympathies to the Fisher family. Dave was a good friend and our careers followed the same path for many years. CDC, Bell Atlantic and STK. He really was a "good guy".

I worked with Dave at StorageTek and Sun and enjoyed all the time we spent together. I'll miss his quick wit and good humor. Dave was always upbeat and a pleasure to know. Dave left the world a better place than he found it, and that's the highest praise I can think of.

I knew Dave for a very short time, but feel & can say that the world is missing a great guy. He was great to work with. God be with his family & I hope to see him "upstairs".

We cannot find words to truly express how sorry we are for your loss and how much the Millard family itself will miss Dave.
He was like a "second Scout Dad" to Will and was esteemed and loved much.
And while I didn't know him the way the rest of the family did, the time I spent around him, he was such a kind person.
Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with each of you in this time and in the time ahead of you where you will try to heal from this loss.

Dave was a great guy! I was truly blessed to have been able to work beside him for the last couple of years. He always brightened my day. We enjoyed talking about having drinks on the beach. He will be greatly missed!

Dave and I became close friends I will never forget him and the friendship we had. We had planned on doing many things together I just feel privileged to have had know him, I will miss him greatly!

I worked with Dave off and on for many years with StorageTek.What a genuinely good person. Being around him always had a calming effect because of his composed demeanor. His signature laugh always made me smile. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Dave will be sorely missed in this world.  He was a really genuine all around good caring person.  I always enjoyed being around him and Debbie at the meetings, bowling, and picnics. What an honor to have met and worked with Dave. I feel lucky to have been able to sit down with him daily at the SSR breakfast table. We shared many laughs thanks to him and he listened to us complain. He will be missed so much.

Dave was always ready with a quick witted, humorous  response to some comment that  was just said by someone.   His laugh was contagious.  His presence at the 7:30 AM SSR coffee break will be greatly missed, as will his unique personality.  Keep those computers running in heaven Dave, so if I ever get there, I can just sit back and watch.  And don't try to call me out for an on site assist, at least not for a few more years!

Dave was one of the finest men I have had the pleasure of knowing. Always easy going, insightful, and was quick to find something humorous in everything. We'll all miss you Dave. Save us a seat.

You and David have raised two wonderful young men.  You have helped raise many others to be loving, caring, successful gentleman.  What a legacy.  What an honor that may daughter has such a great man to remember as being her second father.  We will do what we can to help you through your loss.  We are heartbroken for you, Zack, Lissa, Ben and Carissa and your entire family.  All our love, and it is a tribute to him that so many have already rallied to be there.  Know that you are loved. To all our friends and family,
I have lost my whole life, my everything, my best friend, my rock, and the only man I ever loved.  Dave was the most perfect man ever.  He was always there for me thorough every crisis of my life, and now when I need him most, just emptiness.  I was still just as smitten with him as the first time I saw him, and a single look or touch from him sent me all a twitter.  To my knowledge there is not a single person on this earth he ever met who did not instantly like him.  Certainly no husband has ever been loved as much.  The chasm he has left is indescribable.  Everyone who knew him knew how "fashion-conscious" he was.  We are honoring Dave by all wearing jeans and plaid shirts to his memorial service.  He will get a chuckle out of it.  May be the last time we can make him laugh.  Please feel free to join in.
