David Alan Triplett was born on January 5, 1940, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to James and Florence Triplett. He was the younger brother of Carol Triplett. From an early age, David enjoyed sports, hunting, and cars, and he developed a strong work ethic through a variety of jobs, including working at a gas station and chopping meat for local taverns.
David left Marshalltown to pursue his passion for science and teaching at Iowa State Teachers College, now known as the University of Northern Iowa. He graduated in 1962 with a degree in biology and teaching. His education brought him to Denver, Colorado, where he taught science at Hill Junior High School for eight years. During his summers, David enjoyed exploring different opportunities, including serving as a deputy sheriff in Lake Tahoe.
After his years in education, David began a career as a salesman for VWR, a position that took him to Kansas City, Missouri. It was there that he met his wife, Margaret. The two were married on December 22, 1974, in Omaha, Nebraska, and soon afterward made their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. David and Margaret were blessed with two children, Jason and Matthew.
David continued to build a career centered around service, education, and helping others. He worked as a facilities manager at several area hospitals before joining the El Paso County Health Department as a health inspector. David was always a teacher at heart. In his role with the county, he used his knowledge to educate a wide variety of establishments, from fast-food restaurants to tattoo parlors. He also shared his experience by teaching weekend and evening classes at Pikes Peak Community State College. David greatly enjoyed his 15 years with the county and retired in 2002.
In retirement, David and Margaret treasured their time together. They enjoyed small trips around Colorado, discovering new places, and, most of all, simply enjoying life side by side. David found great joy in his four grandchildren Lydia, Liv, Carly, and Vale and cherished the time he spent with them.
David lived his life devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith was a central part of who he was, and his family finds comfort in knowing that, while he will be deeply missed on this earth, he now lives eternally with his Creator. David leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, service, teaching, hard work, and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
