Harley Dean McKay was born March 16, 1930 in Rexford, Kansas on the homestead of his maternal grandparents. He moved to Colorado when he was seven. Never liking the name Harley, he always went by Dean.
He really enjoyed his career as a barber, owned "Dean's Barber Shop" at 76 S. Knox Court, for 47 years. His socializing there helped him with his other career in real estate. Dean loved to travel and play golf and he and his wife Marita had many trips, usually toting along their golf clubs. He was a great singer and dancer, and really liked going to casinos, especially to play on the crap tables.
Dean enjoyed westerns and autobiographies of actors he was familiar with. He spent many hours after he went blind in 2016 listening to those genres on talking books.
Dean passed away on February 29, 2020 in Arvada, Colorado. He is remembered and loved by many family members and friends.
