Born on June 5th, 1952 to Charles Gallogly, and Ester Gallogly (nee Beeman), Dee Dee was the youngest of four Sisters. Small in stature, but not in personality, Dee Dee would brighten a whole room with her smile and infectious laughter. During her younger years, she could be found most often with her older Sister, Mary- usually attempting to get her out of trouble! A graduate of Westminster High School (class of 1970), Dee Dee was a lover of Latin, Poetry, Art, and Literature.
Dee Dee accomplished many things during her life- but if you were to ask her, she would have said that her proudest achievement was to be Mother to her loving Son, Lucas Crawford, born in 1976. Dee Dee didn’t hesitate to teach life’s lessons the right way- and that wasn’t easy- but she always did so with a kind heart and a mother’s love. Dee Dee sacrificed willingly and fought through illnesses and hardship to ensure that her son grew up healthy, happy, and ready to face the challenges of the world. Dee Dee was also known by many of her Son’s friends as “Madre”, a surrogate to many who found themselves without the guidance that was needed at important times. Dee Dee was an excellent listener, and an even better confidant and advisor- even if the advice that she gave wasn’t exactly what you wanted to hear, you knew that she was probably right. In 2005, Dee Dee was overjoyed to find out that she would be “Grand-Madre”, and showed her Grandchildren the love and care that only an “awesome Grandma” can.
Dee Dee was always willing to help those less fortunate, even if she was not fortunate, herself. She constantly gave of her resources and time, resulting in everyone whose lives she touched being better off. Dee Dee stood strong and in full support of her son as he joined the Army and served overseas on multiple combat tours, and spent long hours making and sending care packages to him (and his fellow soldiers who didn’t get care packages). She learned all of the lingo and acronyms that she could, simply to be a better “Army Mom”. She volunteered at her church, helping to tutor children after school, and was also a greeter/ volunteer at the church on Sunday mornings; many of her fellow parishioners grew to love, care for, and appreciate her presence in their lives, just as her family did.
Dee Dee has been preceded in her Eternal Life by her parents, and Sisters Sandra (Sandy) and Roberta (Bobbi). She is survived by her Sister Mary, Son Lucas, Daughter-in-Law Sarah, Grandchildren Michaela and Ian, numerous Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews, and countless others whose lives were touched by hers.
A celebration of Dee Dee’s life will be held on Friday, the 17th of November 2023 at 1:30PM, at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary Chapel (7777 W. 29th St, Wheat Ridge, CO). In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society in Dee Dee’s name.
