Dennis M. Fehr, 94 passed away on October 13th, 2024. He was born November 25th, 1929, to Henry and Denise Fehr. The youngest of 4 children - Fred, Inez, Beverly and Dennis. Dennis married Anna May Opatril his wife of 68 years in 1953, after honorable discharge from the US Army. Dennis served 2 years in the Army Corp of Engineers, mostly in Fairbanks, Alaska. After military service he returned to Broomfield, CO where he continued farming as well as a full-time job at Adams City Manufacturing as an equipment operator and mechanic.
Dennis and Anna May started their family in 1954, having four children – Greg, Kathy, Pamela and David. In November 1960, Dennis and Anna May moved into their newly built home on part of the family farm on Huron Street in Broomfield, Colorado.
In 1971 Dennis and Anna May started their own business - Fehr’s Backhoe Service. Dennis operated that business until partial retirement in 1996 and continued to work part time for Fehr’s Excavating until full retirement in 2010. At that time, Dennis pursued his hobbies full time – restoring tractors and attending farm auctions. He and Anna May purchased 2 Model A Ford’s and enjoyed parades and road trips with the Model A Club.
Dennis was an early “Good Luck” 4-H Club member in the 1940’s. He was asked in his retirement to serve as a mentor and advisor to the 4-H Club which he gladly accepted and enjoyed his involvement with the club for many years.
Dennis is survived by his sister, Beverly Van Oeveren, daughter, Kathy Tenorio (Eddie), sons Greg Fehr (Cheryl) and David Fehr. Numerous grandchildren, a great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna May, his brother Fred, his sister Inez Kellogg, daughter, Pamela Bramhall and great-grandson, Henry Fehr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Childrens Hospital Colorado in the name of Dennis M. Fehr.
