

Dennis was born on January 20, 1940, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Henry and Agnes Herbolsheimer. He grew up alongside his beloved sisters, Jan and Marilyn, and was known from a young age for his kind heart and infectious sense of humor.
In February 1962, Dennis began his service in the U.S. military, stationed in Germany. He served honorably until his discharge in February 1965.
Throughout his life, Dennis was a hardworking and dedicated man. Early on, he worked as a mechanic, spent time in construction, and worked briefly as a bus driver. He later began a long and fulfilling career with Vistar (formerly Multi Foods and VSA), where he worked as a project manager for 40 years. His commitment, leadership, and reliability earned the respect of all who worked alongside him.
Dennis met the love of his life, Carol, in 1985 in Loveland, Colorado. The two shared a deep bond and were married on January 20, 2003. Through their union, Dennis gained seven stepchildren—Craig, Kevin, Brian, Lynn, Rhonda, Patty, and Paula—and together, they built a large and loving family that brought him endless pride and joy. He became a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to 65 grandchildren.
Dennis also gave back to his community in many ways. He volunteered his time with the Northglenn American Legion Post 22, where he proudly served as Commander for several years. His dedication to fellow veterans and his local community was unwavering.
Dennis and Carol shared a love for adventure—traveling together, riding their Harley-Davidsons, and making unforgettable trips to Sturgis. More than anything, Dennis loved being with family. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and made everyone feel welcome and appreciated. He was truly one of a kind—someone many would describe as the kindest man they ever met.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Agnes Herbolsheimer, brother in law Dick Zierke, and by his beloved wife, Carol J. Herbolsheimer.
He is survived by his sisters Jan Zierke and Marilyn(Marv)Bachman; nephews Brian (Deb) Maas, Rick (Sandy) Maas, Chad (Jody) Maas, Joan (Todd, fiancee) Droesher, and Troy (Stacy) Zierke; and his stepchildren Craig (Danika) Kukus, Kevin (Brenda) Kukus, Brian (Patricia) Kukus, Lynn (Steve) Teal, Rhonda (Billy) Graham, Patty Kukus, and Paula (Tom) Cittadino. He also leaves behind a legacy of love in his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dennis will be remembered always for his generosity, humor, strength, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and country.
