Diane D Henry, age 85, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on Tuesday evening, February 16, 2021. Diane was born August 29, 1935 to Robert and Daisybelle Dorcas.

Diane attended University Park Elementary, Grant Junior High and South High School in Denver, CO. She then went on to Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts and held a Master’s in Education from the University of Denver.

Diane taught elementary school for 20 years, mainly for Jefferson County School District. She volunteered at the Denver Visitor's Bureau for years.

Diane and I met on a trip to Australia in 2004. We hit it off right away. Then, at Christmas time of the following year, I got a card from her saying she was going to Antarctica next year and wished I could go. Answering her, "I can", we started a travel friendship that lead us through many countries including Antarctica, China, Africa, Croatia and finally, our last trip to Iceland. What a wonderful friendship we had filled with jokes, laughter, adventures and, yes, a few gin and tonics. Travel has not been the same since she hung up her walking shoes! I shall miss her and pray that she rests in peace.

I first met Diane in a bridge group, way must have been around 1970. I will always fondly hold the memory of Diane telling great stories at the bridge table, her good humor, and energy. It saddened me to hear about her declining health, and now, her death. I am so sorry.
