Don was born December 12, 1929 in the small town of Spades, Indiana to Nora and Burnice Holliday.
At age 19, Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and went to China and eventually to Korea, where during the Korean War he participated in the infamous Chosin Reservoir campaign fought in temperatures of 20 below zero. Don received a Bronze Star for his heroic service.
After an honorable discharge from the military, Don married Barbara Lawler and together they started a family to include two children.
Don worked for Wheat Ridge Lumber Company as an estimator for over 20 years and then started a successful carpet company until his retirement.
Don is survived by his loving wife Barbara Holliday of 67 years and son Jay Holliday (Kathy), grandchildren Derek Holliday (Lindsay) and Jessica Holliday Castro (Jake) and four great-grandchildren Jadon, Reeve, Alyssa and Jacob. Don is also survived by his sister Lenore Hampton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son Michael Timothy Holliday and brother Ronald Holliday.
Also, without his care team and hospice care team Don would not have had the comfort and compassion to fulfill his transition. Many thanks to Tina Freed and Trudie Crooks to help him through that difficult time.
Don will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor and dedication to his strong faith.
Services will be at Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church at 4425 Kipling Street Wheat Ridge Colorado at 1PM Monday October 22, 2018 with viewing one hour prior.
