Donald Dean Phelps

Donald Dean Phelps, 91, went to live with our Heavenly Father on April 21, 2022 at the Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Don was a resident of the Morningstar Arvada Community in Arvada, CO.

Don was born July 5, 1930 in Bloomington, Nebraska to Dollie Mae (Cochran) Phelps and Rodney Isaac Phelps. He attended school in Nebraska and Colorado. Don graduated from Arvada Public Schools in 1947.

Throughout his lifetime he worked in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. While employed by Continental Airlines, Don had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe- catching a ride on a plane bound for London, France, or Italy.

New York was one of his favorite cities. Don enjoyed Broadway shows, great music and the nightlife that "Old New York" was famous for. He loved good food. His favorite venue for an evening "on the town" was the famous Tavern on the Green in Central Park in New York City. One of his greatest memories was when he entertained his sisters, Leona and Bettyjean there when they visited him in New York City. Don's last adventure was to the glorious destination to Heaven - The last stamp on his earthly passport.

Don, fondly known as Uncle, returned home to Colorado upon retirement to be close to his family. He was there to love and support his family. When he needed extra support and care, his family lovingly offered their support to him. He is the last of his generation of the Phelps family.

Don is survived by his Niece, Lucinda (James) Spencer, Nephew Mark (Adrienne) Loye, Great Nieces and Nephews, J.R. (Meredith) Spencer and Berkley Spencer, Jennifer (Tim) Norton and Spencer Norton and Taylor Norton, Jewela Spencer, Elizabeth (Chris) Clark, Victoria Loye, Mary Kate Loye, and special friend Jennifer Combs.

He is preceded in death by his Brothers, Henry and Raymond Phelps, Sisters, Leona Gorrell and Bettyjean Loye, Brother-In-Laws Lloyd Gorrell and Ben Loye and Niece Yvonne.
