Donald F. Sterkel

Donal Sterkel went to be with our Lord in September, 2023. He is survived by two children, three grandchildren and their families; also a younger brother, two sisters in law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was a Colorado native and grew up in Globeville. He joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was in the Air-Sea Rescue Division. He was so proud of the time he spent serving our country. It was then that he met his wife Helen. They were together 58 years.

After the Air Force, Don became a skilled cabinet maker and woodworker which he did for decades. Many of his accomplishments are still visible. He loved his work. He eventually started his own company doing remodeling and woodworking. That kept him busy into his seventies.

Don's younger brother, John and his family spent many weekends drag racing at Bandimere Speedway. Don was right there driving his own race car. He was also an excellent mechanic.

Generosity and helpfulness were part of his character, especially when it came to his children. He never said no when someone needed help. He was the best father that anyone could hope for. Don will be greatly missed by all of our family. God bless you dad.
