Doris Elias Brown, age 99, of Denver, CO, passed away April 19, 2019.

She was born in New York, NY on August 9, 1919. Doris graduated from Mamaroneck High School and received a business degree from Columbia University. She was married to Gilbert E. Brown, from October 22, 1942, until he passed away in 1992. Doris worked with Gil in the furniture business at The Hub department store in Steubenville, OH, where they raised their boys Jim and Cliff, and Doris twice won the Steubenville Country Club’s annual women’s golf championship. In 1967 they moved to Purchase, NY and for several years ran Harry Elias & Co., an industrial paper and supplies company on the lower east side of Manhattan, before retiring in Tamarac, FL. Doris and Gil were avid duplicate bridge players; both became Life Masters and taught and ran bridge sessions in Ohio, New York, Florida, and on cruise ships around the world, making so many friends along the way. Doris enjoyed many more years with friends in Florida and in 2014 moved to Denver, CO to be with family.

Doris is survived by her two sons: James E. Brown and his wife, Linney Brown, Englewood, CO, and Clifford E. Brown and his wife Sheila Hart , South Charleston, OH; three grandchildren Elias Brown and his wife Carolynn Francavilla, Lakewood, CO, Ben Brown, Denver, CO, and Jessalyn Kenworthy and her husband Jacob Kenworthy, Xenia, OH; and two great grandchildren.
