Doris Lillian Walter (Gastineau) passed into sweet, heavenly sleep on Saturday morning September 12th 2026 at the age of 89. She was born near the end of the Great Depression. The youngest of three children in Chillicothe Missouri. She graduated college from Baylor University and moved to Colorado in 1960. She could be best described as a Musician and a music teacher for Adams County School District 50. In retirement she became an adult choir director for the Arvada Community Center, she served on the Westminster Library Board and was an active participant in local politics and a dyed in blue Democrat. Traveling was also a big part of Dori’s life. From visiting cities in the US, an Alaska Cruise, six weeks in Australia, a glass bottom boat in the Great Barrier Reef, Costa Rica, Fiji and Italy. Greece and New Zealand were her favorite places. She would talk about them often! She spent the last decade living in a wonderful retirement community where she and her many friends participated in many activities while helping support one another. She loved leading her little community in singing Christmas Carols while she accompanied them on the piano during the communities annual Christmas Celebration. She also loved playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by her many friends and neighbors and will be forever loved and missed by her Son and Daughter in law, four Nieces and a Nephew, and the many students and people whom she came in contact with. I Really miss you mom…g
