Dorothy Toscano

1927-2014

Dorothy, 86, of Wheat Ridge, passed peacefully on November 29, 2014. She is survived by her loving husband, Louie of 67 years; daughters Karen (Chuck) Yeager, Debbie (Bob) Dorn, grandchildren Mike (Amanda) Dorn, Scott (Mitra) Yeager and Jeff (Kristin) Yeager; great grandchildren, Vanessa and Tyler Dorn, Ava Yeager, and Kendall Yeager, nieces and nephews and very close friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Viola Munson, her brother and sister in law, Wallace and Martha Munson.

Dorothy was born in Denver, CO to Ernest and Viola Munson. She was the youngest of two children. She grew up in what she called “Nanny Goat Hill” which was located across the road from Globeville. She attended Garden Place Elementary, Horace Mann Junior and graduated from North High School.

She meet Louie in 1943 and they were married on March 9, 1947. They lived in Denver and then moved to Wheat Ridge, CO. They raised two daughters and had a career working in the payroll department at Bowman Biscuit which is now known as Keebler. She retired in 1990 and enjoyed bowling, traveling and her favorite was Las Vegas/Blackhawk. She was always the event planner for their group of friends when it came to planning a dinner, a trip to Branson or Vegas or sitting up get together. She organized a Pinochle club with 2 of her best friends back in September, 1950. They decided it would be 6 couples, meet once a month and each couple would take have it twice a year. They had prizes for men and women as well as they served a very good meal. This club is still together and has had many changes. The last club was held in September which was Dorothy and Louie’s turn and held at her daughter’s house. The one thing that has not changed is they still serve food and have prizes.

She was always there to help anyone and would reorganize her schedule to pick up grandkids, take someone to the doctor or help with whatever. She was a very kind and caring person.

She will be missed by her family as well as many friends.

Visitation is Friday, December 5, 2014 from 5-7pm at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014, 9:30am, Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary at 7777 W. 29th Ave.

A luncheon reception will follow the burial at Sons of Italy hall, 5925 West 32nd Avenue
