Born on February 12, 1981. Doug Rutherford lived a happy but tough life with his mother, father and two siblings. They say, it is life's challenges that make us who we are. If you were to look back, through his history, one could see why he was such an amazing man. Not only did his history shape him, but the people that entered his life, family, friends and people who he had helped made him the man that we all know and love.
During his time at Arvada High School, Doug meet his true love. Though it took her some time to realized that they were meant to be. Doug never gave up. He knew, right away, she was the one for him. They were together for 22 years. Most people who knew Doug, knew he had a gift. A gift that only he had. Every car he touched turned into a work of art. He was always working on a car. It was his way of interacting with people. He almost never worked on a car alone. He was always surrounded by people he cared about while he worked on cars. Some would work on the car with him while others admired his work and made him smile. In June of 2017 he started to live his dream. After many years of working in shops he opened up his own business. “RevBarn” better than a barn find.
Doug was old fashioned, it was part of his charm. He believed that a hand shake was a contact and if you shook on it then you should stay true to your word. He would never give people the run around. He cut straight to the point and told it as it was. Common scenes was a big thing for him, it drove him crazy when people didn’t use it because he believed in the good that people have.
He loved the outdoors, camping, four-wheeling, anything that took him to the mountains. He most of all loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife and daughter, grandparents, siblings and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his Mom, Dad and grandfather.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Olinger Crown Hill Pavilion of Reflection.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
