She grew up to be an inspiration to all. She went to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley (The Teacher's College) where she graduated with a degree in Teaching plus a minor in Music and English. After many accomplishments in the career field, she met and fell in love with Raymond May. They were married in Craig, Colorado on July 9, 1944.
She gave birth to her only child, a daughter, Norma Lori Louise May on November 2, 1945. She fondly remembered the doctor saying "next time you get pregnant, you better only drink water and chew on a toothpick, your body isn't made to have babies". Edith and Raymond cherished their only daughter.
Edith was an accomplished and courageous woman. Digging herself out of an avalanche with a screwdriver. A music and an english teacher, she was the first salaried woman employee at Coors Brewery. She loved her career choice and retired from Coors.
She was a lifelong Bronco fan. She loved the Denver Bears and then followed the Colorado Rockies when they were introduced. She loved Wyoming Cowgirls and Cowboys and women's basketball. She missed her calling, you might say. She would have been a fabulous sports announcer. She could name coaches and player trades in any sport.
Edith was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. She played the organ at the Arvada Presbyterian Church and continued to play into her 90's. She was involved in various church activities and outreach programs. She was never shy in saying "The Lord is My Shepherd".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond May on Dec. 2, 2009 and her daughter, Lori Low on September 15, 2007.
She is survived by her son in law, Donald Arthur Low, her grandchildren, Donald Low II and Theresa Carroll. She has four great-grandchildren, Nicholaus, Jacquelynn, Alycia and Mitchell. Her great-great granddaughter is Kiera.
