Elaine was born Sunday, February 27, 1927 to parents Norris & Cornelius Thompson in Fergus Falls Minnesota. She worked on the family farm and graduated high school in Fergus Falls living away from home to attend high school. Following graduation, she worked at the local telephone company.
She married Bennie G. Burseth on December 15, 1946.
They lived in Minnesota and California before planting roots in Lakewood, CO in the early 1960’s.
Once in Colorado, they built their family, daughter Pamela, and sons Gary and Daniel. Elaine was a stay at home mom, ironing other people’s clothes to help to make ends meet at 3-5 cents a garment. As the kids grew, she became an Assistant to an Insurance Agent in Golden, CO.
Elaine loved her family, playing piano and singing, and getting together with friends and family to play games. In her mother’s footsteps she became quite adept at crocheting and needlework. She made the most amazing kitchen scrubber scrunchies and even made a tablecloth out of plastic shopping bags. She kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles, work jumbles, and other games. She enjoyed life, and while the last few years saw her lose some cognitive abilities, she provided enjoyment to her family and those that cared for her. She shall be missed.
Elaine is the last of the Thompson Family Matriarchs and Patriarchs, what a wonderful group they are and forever will be. We will love you all forever!
Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Bennie G.
