The family moved to Colorado in 1940. He attended Wheat Ridge Junior High and graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1946. He lettered in Football, Basketball and Track. In the 1945-46 season, he was the State Champion in the 120 yard high hurdles. He attended the University of Denver on a Football Scholarship and also ran track. He graduated in 1950 with a Degree in Physical Education.
He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Jean Elledge and she preceded him in death in 1964.
He met Judy Valentine and they were married in 1967.
Eldon was a successful business man for many years. He started as a general contractor in construction with his brothers, Lee and Harold, and owned other companies throughout his life.
During the late 1950’s and 60’s, when his boys were young, he coached Little League Football and Basketball. Later on, he coached his grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Kunz; children, Larry Kunz, Terry (Nancy) Kunz, Susie (Jim) Saddoris, Karri (Jon) Majerus; grandchildren, Leigh Sullivan, Matt Leprino, Kelli Kunz, Krystal Davis, Kimberly Davis, Terry Kunz, Jr., Annie Kunz, Tyler Saddoris, Sam Saddoris, Sydnie Saddoris, Jordan Majerus, Jackson Majerus; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Roberts, Grace Guard; brothers, Harold Kunz, Lee Kunz, Sr.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Eldon’s name with Volunteers of American Meals on Wheels, 2660 Larimer St., Denver, CO 80205.
Eldon’s Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2015, at Mission Hills Church, 620 Southpark Dr., Littleton, CO 80120.
