Elise Michelle Guest Kloosterman passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was a beautiful light on this Earth who will be sorely missed by myriads. Elise was born on October 23rd, 1970, in Sterling, Colorado, to parents Richard E. Guest and Linda Sand Guest. As a child, she lived in Sterling, Fort Collins, Chicago, Des Moines, Boston, and later Boulder following her parents’ educational and professional goals. In 1988, she graduated from Lexington High School, Lexington, MA. She next graduated with a B.A. from Colorado University with a degree in Spanish and International Business.
Elise displayed a love of travel and learning, involvement in the creative arts and propensity for music from an early age. After graduating from college, Elise worked as a flight attendant for Delta and then United Airlines visiting cities all over the world for the next twelve years. During her adult life, she lived in Atlanta, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and Arvada. For over twenty years, she taught piano to students ranging in age from five years to retirement. Deciding to change airline careers, she began her first day at The Iliff School of Theology in Denver on 9/11, having previously flown many of the routes involved in that national tragedy. Two years later, she earned a master’s degree in religious studies.
Following that, Elise met and fell in love with her wonderful husband Jeff Kloosterman. Together they have two amazing children, Kieran (Kiki) and Brendon Kloosterman. While starting a family she continued her studies through Mile Hi Church in Lakewood, Colorado.
Next, she pursued her love of interior design and worked part time as a designer for Pottery Barn while earning a certificate in Interior Design from the International School of Art and Design in New York City. She had hopes of establishing her own design practice when she was diagnosed with Stage Four breast cancer. She fought valiantly for nearly two years before she succumbed to the disease.
Elise is survived by her husband Jeff, their children Kiki and Brendon, her mother Linda Sand Guest and her brother Greg Guest, his wife Andi and boys Christopher and Thomas as well. Additional surviving families include Dave and Sylvia Kloosterman, Janelle Kloosterman, Daniel and Heather Kloosterman and daughters Amanda and Jenna.
A GoFundMe account has been established to help address the many expenses incurred. Donations may be made to https://gofund.me/3e9cb2671.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 10:00AM at the Mile Hi Church, 9077 W. Alameda Avenue, Lakewood, CO.
