Betty was born in Matthews, North Carolina on September 11, 1924. She moved to Colorado with her husband, Joseph W Duvall in 1960.
Betty received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Queens College in NC and held a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She began teaching art in the Jeffco schools for 20 years until she retired.
She and her husband enjoyed many adventures and activities. They would pack up their trailer and go off rock hounding looking for gemstones with friends from a couple of rock and mineral clubs. If they were lucky enough to find stones, they would come home where they would cut, polish, facet their stone and make them into jewelry with their silversmithing.
Betty was still passionate about her painting, especially oils and produced quite a number that are sought after by the family. She joined the Arvada Fine Arts Guild in the early 1960 but lost touch during her teaching years. She rejoined around 1972 and continued for a number of years after.
Betty was very involved in the Arvada United Methodist Church and attended church services for over 60 years. She joined the Pricilla Circle after her husband passed away and was President for 10 years before she ‘retired’ from that position.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W Duvall.
She is survived by her children Larry Duvall and Barbara Lewis (Rob), 4 Grandchildren, Nicole (Alan) Little, Erin (Chris) Petersen, Renee (Sean) Rogers, Drew Lewis, 3 Great Grandchildren Ryan Rogers, Lucas Rogers, Sebastian Petersen.
