During and after World War II, before marrying, Betty served as a radio operator for United Airlines in Denver. On October 3, 1947, she married the love of her life, Marvin Huyser, with whom she shared a devoted partnership until his passing in 2001. Together, they raised four children — Rick, Kirk, Greg, and Debra — in Denver and Houston with short stints in Spokane, Billings, and Salt Lake City due to Marvin’s career with Conoco.
A dedicated homemaker and mother, Betty found joy in the details of everyday life. She had a sharp mind and a love for games, whether it was bridge, puzzles, or games of chance. Her competitive spirit even led her to become the second runner-up for a television game show in Los Angeles. In her younger years, she enjoyed tennis and golf, and throughout her life, she was known for her meticulous record-keeping.
Betty’s warmth, intelligence, and sense of fun will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Kirk, Greg, and Deb, 8 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and some great-great grandchildren. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she lived a full and vibrant century, leaving behind cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
A family service will be held in her honor.
