She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert Cloyd Slocum in 2008; her son, Robert Joseph Slocum, age 57, in 2005; her daughter, Mary Lou Hood, age 59, in 2015; and her granddaughter, Amy Jeanine Travis, age 47, in 2025.
Nellie is survived by her daughters, Susan Diane Iuppa and JoAnn Nichols; grandsons, Brian Jasson Hood, Jeffrey Edward Travis, and Luigi Michael Iuppa; great grandchildren, Dedric Jasson Hood, Tyler, Jackson, Connor Travis, Naia Carina Iuppa, and Haven Siena Luppa.
She lived a long happy healthy life and died peacefully in her sleep. She was very much loved and will be missed dearly.
Family and friends are invited to services on Friday, September 11, 2026 starting at 12:00 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Denver, CO 80033. A graveside blessing will follow at 2pm with a reception after.
