

Emmitt was born to Melvin and Evelyn McCrea on August 31, 1939 in Keyes, OK where he graduated high school. Shortly after high school he joined the Navy 1957-1961 and was then in the reserves.
He is survived by his wife Barbara McCrea, children Emmitt McCrea Jr, Lakeville, Anthony (Angie) McCrea, Brighton, Dana McVay, Arvada, Michelle (Kyle) Velvin, Westminster, grandchildren Ryan McCrea, Joseph Troupe, Lynne Swift, Kayli Chamberlin, Jessica Donohue, Madison Velvin, and 7 great grandchildren, sister Ramona McCoy and many other family and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents Melvin and Evelyn McCrea, brothers Jackie and Monty McCrea and grandson Clinton McCrea.
Emmitt worked for the Colorado State Highway Dept where he received a certificate of appreciation from the Governor for his hard work during the 1965 Denver Flood. He went to Red Rock College to obtain his Electrical license. He was an electrician for Dial Electric, Accurate Electric and WL Contractors installing traffic signals, highway, and airport lighting. He also owned his own company for a period of time.
Emmitt was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman. He spent 6 fun summers fishing and traveling in Alaska with his wife Barbara. When he was young, he raised hunting dogs, trained racehorses, and even tried his hand at raising ostriches!
After services at Fort Logan a gathering will be available in Brighton at Tony McCrea’s residence: 16278 Oneida St., Brighton, CO 80602
