81, passed away peacefully at his home in Denver, Colorado on August 23rd, 2020. Ernest was born in Raton, New Mexico on January 21st, 1939 to Ernest and Frances Martinez. He married Tavita Meneses on December 21st, 1957 in Eloy, Arizona. He was the father of 5 children, Aaron Martinez, Linda (Gary) Baca, James Martinez, Cindy (Adam) Carrillo and Tina (Corey) Bergeron. He had 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was the eldest brother to 10 siblings and had many nieces, nephews and distant relatives. He and Tavita also fostered several children and remained in contact with two of them, Shawn and Julian. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Tavita and his son, Aaron.
Sonny loved to play his guitar and listen to music. He loved going on road trips and camping in the mountains with his family. He lived most of his life in Colorado but did reside briefly in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Wisconsin. Sonny will be deeply missed, but the memories of him will remain in his family’s hearts forever
