Felix was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Felix was born in 1934 on his families Hot Creek Ranch in Capulin, Colorado to Juan de Dios and Vicentita Vigil. He was a beloved brother to eleven siblings. Upon graduating from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Capulin he made his way to Arizona to begin his working career. From Arizona, he lived and worked in Idaho and Northern California. While living in Healdsburg, CA he worked at the Asti Winery in nearby Cloverdale, one of the oldest California wineries that are still in operation. During this time, Felix would spend his winters in Capulin where he began dating the love of his life, Elva, whom he had known since early childhood.
When one enters the oldest church in Colorado, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Conejos, for the first time, it is said that if you make a wish it shall be granted. Felix’ wish came true when he married Elva in Taos, NM on May 7, 1957. They lived in Healdsburg for the first three years of their marriage and then returned to Colorado for the remainder of their marriage. In 1962 Felix moved his family to Denver where his six beautiful children were raised. He worked at Jonas Brothers for over ten years and retired from the Purex Corporation after 17 years of service.
Felix was a man of many talents and passions. He was greatly cherished because he was a consummate gentleman as well as being handsome, elegant, courteous, courageous, generous and humble. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, playing his guitar and bowling. Felix bowled with his family every Saturday night for decades and at one point had a 265 average. All who met Felix immediately took a liking to him.
Quick to laugh and slow to anger Felix was a man of God and left an enduring impression with countless people. His belief sustained him through many trials in his life. He was also a jokester often teasing his children with his stories of being a Matador in Spain, a tap dancer, and a high wire trapeze artist at the Circus. Felix loved music his whole life and was often requested to lead family and friends’ Wedding Marches. Most of all Felix was a family man who was at all times dedicated to the wellbeing of his family. Felix will be dearly missed by his family and friends and was welcomed into heaven with a hearty “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”
Felix is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elva; children Tomas Lujan, Joella Vigil, Carrie Vigil Bueno, Lillian Vigil Burnette, Barbara Vigil Montanez, and Annette Vigil; 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
