

Florence Halderman Coleman, a maverick from the Greatest Generation, passed away Tuesday August 7, 2018 at The Manor on Marston Lake at the age of 92. Florence was born on July 11, 1926 in Manter, Kansas to Dick and Edna Halderman. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class in Kit Carson, CO and went on to receive her CPA certificate working for more than 40 years in her profession. In January 1965, she married Richard Coleman. They raised one daughter, Karen Coleman Zellner of Chanhassen, Minnesota.
Florence started her career in numbers in the oil business while earning her CPA certificate at night school. She also spent three years in Okinawa after WWII on a military base. The highlight of her career was working for the City of Denver Auditors Office. In addition to her passion for numbers, she was an avid bridge player, ballroom dancer, and traveler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all five siblings: Eva, Jessie, Stanley, Lyman, Joan. She is survived by her daughter and grandchildren, Frank (Minneapolis) and Ann (Chanhassen).
A celebration of her life will be held at the Lakewood Elks Club, 1455 Newland St in Lakewood, CO 80214-1924 on Friday September 21 at 5:30pm.
